Magruder Laser Vision – “Firsts”
In 1996, Dr. Magruder opened his practice and introduced Central Florida residents to the region’s first refractive surgery center. Since then, he has continued to innovate by introducing game-changing technology and pursuing
ongoing education to master the latest techniques.
1999: Installed the first autonomous eye-tracking laser in the United States.
2001: Performed the first custom cornea Wavefront-guided treatments in Central Florida. Wavefront technology added a greater degree of precision and personalization to LASIK vision correction surgery by using
advanced wavefront technology to evaluate an eye’s unique characteristics.
2001: Became an FDA investigational study site for Wavefront-guided LASIK.
2005: Dr. Magruder was the first to offer the Verisyse implantable lenses, bringing clear vision to patients who were not candidates for traditional refractive surgery, LASIK, or PRK.
2005: The first to bring the Wavelight Allegretto laser to Central Florida. It was one of the most innovative and revolutionary laser platforms available at the time.
2006: Dr. Magruder performed the first Staar Visian implantable contact lens in the Orlando area. Implantable lenses function like contact lenses to correct nearsightedness. The difference is that they work from
within the eye instead of sitting on the surface of the eye.
2011: Introduced Central Florida’s first Intralase iFS, a blade-free method offering a decreased likelihood of complications.
2012: Dr. Magruder was on the cutting edge of cataract technology, bringing the very first LensAR Cataract Laser to local patients. LensAR brings patients an unprecedented level of precision, safety, and results.
2015: First to offer the Alcon Refractive Suite of Lasers
2016: First to bring Contoura Vision Topography Guided LASIK
2016: Magruder Laser Vision is the first laser eye center in Central Florida to offer the KAMRA inlay, which provides long-term clear near vision for patients with presbyopia – the farsightedness caused by loss of
elasticity in the lens of the eye.
2016: New laser technology treats the annoying, drifting, spots known as “floaters.” At best, floaters are annoying. And at worst, they can signal a serious eye condition.
These are just a few of the innovative “firsts” Magruder Laser Vision brought to Central Florida. See more by visiting: Dr. Magruder "Firsts"
